My wife and I are about to start our new adventure as #digitalnomads – on the 2nd of November 2015.

We have started a website here called ‘A Nomad Couple’ to tell people a bit about what we are up to.

But, what are Digital Nomads I hear (at least some of you) cry?

This post explains a little more and about why we have decided to take the leap ourselves. As the vast majority of our work takes place online, we want to be able to travel, experience other cultures and see a bit of the world while we take our businesses forward.

We have been inspired by a great many people and there are lots of great websites online that can help you look into this lifestyle for yourself, if you feel so inspired. Two of my favourites and two of those that are appreciated by thousands and thousands of people around the world who are looking to make a change, areSean Ogle and Natalie Sisson. Both are very much worth checking out and both Sean and Natalie have probably forgotten more about being a digital nomad than I know!

We currently live in London, UK and our first stop will be Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. Here we explain why. After that, who knows? We aren’t in any rush and will probably periodically return to the UK for both business and pleasure, but we are excited about the adventure that lies before us and about not being entirely sure where we will end up. We’ve been preparing for our trip for quite a while but we know that it is only when we get started that we will finally begin to start figuring out the real possibilities.

A stereotype that we have found in our research is that some people think Digital Nomads travel to escape from something. Beyond being keen to escape some of the more dreary aspects of the British weather, that isn’t true for us. We love where we currently live, we just fancy a change and we live at a time in history where (incredibly luckily) that is possible.

Beyond our personal situation, the rise of Digital Nomadism is certainly something that may change the working world- I reflect on that here.

If you would like to learn more about A Nomad Couple, please have a look here.

I look forward to sharing with you some of the things that I learn and doubtless many of the mistakes that I make along the way.

Las Palmas, here we come…….
