Rhys Morgan is the Founder of Shoots of Recovery, a new social enterprise providing support, training, employment and social integration via food production in Birmingham. He also provides Christian Group Support at Livingstone House UK, has been a peer mentor for Shelter and an Anglican parish priest in charge of four churches.
1- In no more than three sentences, please explain what you do
I am Sylvia’s husband and Ciaran and Tom’s father. I work part time running a Christian group in a 12 step rehab centre in Birmingham called Livingstone House. I am the founder of a social enterprise called Shoots of Recovery.
2- Who inspires you?
Steve Glover at the Severn Project for inspiring Shoots. And Gary Vaynerchuck for his Monday motivation you tube when I was in a bad position last autumn and politics – David Steel politics wise.
3- What is the biggest change you want to see in the world?
That the war on drugs and the vilification of the disabled the young and benefit claimants is stopped and that policy is evidence based rather than blame and prejudiced based.
4- What would you like to be remembered for?
As Tom and Ciaran’s Dad- but by everyone else, as someone who made every mistake in the book, but making mistakes is how he learnt and tried to be better to make a difference or as someone who helped others make a bigger difference.
5- What is the most interesting new idea you’ve come across in the past year?
