1- In no more than three sentences, please explain what you do
I help small organisations get the most out of digital marketing with a focus on social media. I am particularly passionate about campaigns that encourage behaviour change, disruptive and innovative approaches and emotive storytelling.
2- Who inspires you?
I am often inspired by people who work for small charities; they do so much with so little. They are often closest to the ’in need’ and vulnerable groups of people and so can see first-hand the effects of their charitable work.
Often they are supported by groups of incredible volunteers; they can make a big difference to lots of communities across the UK.
3- What is the biggest change you want to see in the world?
I think that lots of things would be improved if we were encouraged to think for ourselves and question everything.
My favourite quote is: “To find yourself, think for yourself” – Socrates
I think that if we were more self-aware and we embraced our uniqueness we would be happier. If we were more aware of what is really happening in the world around us we could work together more effectively to improve things.
Unfortunately most systems in our society want the absolute opposite of this and are designed to create sheep-like people who follow the crowd and do not question anything.
4- What would you like to be remembered for?
Someone who had infectious enthusiasm, for being a connector and collaborator, particularly with my Charity Meetup work. For helping people to embrace the opportunities that digital marketing presents.
5- What is the most interesting new idea you’ve come across in the past year?
I really like the new concept retail hub that was created by Petit Miracles. It gives fledgling entrepreneurs an opportunity to have their own shop. I love the idea of revitalising our high streets with this new kind of shop that can offer unique products with their own stories behind them and giving new businesses a great opportunity to grow.
