Social Good Six Interview 59: Derek O’Neill


For more than 20 years, Derek O’Neill has been transforming the lives of people around the world. An internationally acclaimed psychotherapist, motivational speaker, author, martial arts sensei and humanitarian, Derek inspires and uplifts people from all walks of life through his books, workshops, consultations, speaking engagements, media, and humanitarian work.

At a very young age, Derek realized how powerful the mind is, how powerful thoughts are and how powerful we as human beings are. He also realized he had a tremendous compassion for people and could connect with them on the physical, mental and spiritual levels. These realizations and insights continue to guide Derek on his path to this day. Inspired by his worldly travels, he formed SQ Foundation, a not-for-profit organization focused on helping solve global issues facing humanity today. In 2012, Derek was honored as Humanitarian of the Year and named International Celebrity Ambassador for Variety International the Children’s Charity. He was welcomed as Vice President of the esteemed charity in May 2013. He is founder and CEO of SQ Worldwide LP, a multifaceted company committed to teaching individuals and corporations how to use untapped potential to transform themselves and the world around them. With his late wife Linda, he founded the Creacon Lodge Wellness Center in Wexford, Ireland. A spiritual retreat and healing centre that offers a unique environment for personal reflection, relaxation and self exploration.


1- In no more than three sentences, please explain what you do.

Transform people’s thinking from negative to positive. Empower people to make better choices. Remind people how powerful they really are.


2- Who inspires you? 

People who stick to their moral values no matter the cost. People like Mahatma Ghandi and my late wife Linda.


3- What is the biggest change you want to see in the world? 

The is the education system changed to incorporate more secular thinking than linear thinking as there is only circles in nature.


4- What would you like to be remembered for? 

I would like to be remember for delivering on my promises and standing up for people who are weaker than I.


5- What is the most interesting new idea you’ve come across in the past year? 

The most interesting new idea I have come across is that if there was an up surge in feminine energy introduce to all the broken systems in the world, that this nurturing energy would create a more balanced holistic world.


6- Finally, how can people engage with your work if they’d like to learn more/help?

People can engage with me by visiting, and but more importantly to contact their real selves where their power lies.
